Reflexology For Going Into Labour

Reflexology For Going Into Labour

Many women who have reflexology during pregnancy will often opt to have their reflexologist with them during labour, or  to help them induce labour.

Even if you have never had reflexology before you can still have treatments in order to help induce labour.

There are several ways in which reflexology can help during labour:

  • Regulating contractions
  • Induction, instead of using chemicals.
  • Pain and relaxation
  • Helping to urinate
  • Helping bowel movements
  • Backache
  • Hyperventilation and correct breathing
  • Regulating body temperature
  • To release retained placenta
  • As a touch therapy itself, adding a touch of relaxation to a stressful time
  • Many women who have reflexology during labour also seem to recover quicker afterwards as the body rebalances more easily.

The overall aim of using reflexology during labour is  that the body will be able to use its natural resources, therefore reducing the use of chemical substances and medication.

Please note however, that reflexology can only be used in this instance once you are past your due date – and not before!
